About David Pawson

A speaker cum author with uncompromising faithfulness to the Holy Scriptures, David brings clarity and a message of urgency to Christians to uncover hidden treasures in God’s Word

Born in England in 1930, David began his career with a degree in Agriculture from Durham University. When God intervened and called him to become a Minister, he completed an MA in Theology at Cambridge University and served as a Chaplain in the Royal Air Force for 3 years. He moved on to pastor several churches including the Millmead Centre in Guildford which became a model for many UK church leaders. In 1979, the Lord led him into an international ministry. His current itinerant ministry is predominantly to church leaders. Over the years, he has written a large number of books, booklets, and daily reading notes. His extensive and very accessible overviews of the books of the Bible have been published and recorded in ‘Unlocking the Bible’. Millions of copies of his teachings have been distributed in more than 120 countries, providing a solid biblical foundation. David & his wife Enid currently reside in the county of Hampshire in the UK.

    • A Preachers Legacy

      5 videos

In October 2010, David shared with more than two hundred delegates his experiences in teaching the Word of God. He also explains how to choose words to make a sermon more memorable, before showing how to deliver the message prepared.

    • Auschwitz Conference

      4 videos

This unusual set of four videos presents David’s teaching at a Conference held in Poland in August 2012. Three sessions were full addresses to all the delegates, and one was an informal talk about David’s experiences in Israel. The three main addresses cover various aspects of the Holocaust - reactions to it, human explanations of it, and a biblical explanation of it. In all four sessions David speaks with an interpreter, but they are well worth watching for anyone interested in the history of the Jews, the future of the Jews, and how that future is linked to the future of the whole world.

    • Book of Revelation - 2002

Recorded at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City in 2002, these talks explain the book of Revelation.

    • Challenge of Islam (The Challenge of Islam to Christians)

      6 videos

Why is Islam the fastest growing religion? Could England be a Muslim State? What is the appeal to men & women? Is it a simple and easier religion that Christianity? What are the fundamental differences between them? Why must one of them be wrong? Can Christians prevent Islam spreading? What is the Christian response to the challenge? Does Jesus or Mohammed have the last word? Are Allah and our God one and the same? David Pawson examines Islam and the Christian faith from a believer’s point of view and their impressions of mosque and church. He accepts the challenge Islam faces convinced Christians with, and analyses the challenge we face them with, in the hope of bringing them back from Mohammed to the Lord Jesus Christ.

    • Charismatics and Evangelicals

      6 videos

For the last quarter of a century, Charismatics and Evangelicals have been moving closer together. The time is ripe, maintains David Pawson, for the two fastest growing streams in Christendom to be fully integrated. With personal experience of both, and a passionate desire to see them united, David Pawson has made a searching study of their remaining differences which he believes can be resolved without compromise. After defining and clarifying their positions, he addresses such critical points of divergence as theology and experience, prophecy and scripture, initiation, tongues, ministry and holiness. The challenge for both, he maintains, is to reconsider their traditional understanding in the light of all the biblical data.

    • Final Facts

      • Will all of us be judged by the Lord?
      • How can God, who is love, send people to Hell?
      • Will there be a new Earth?
      • What will Heaven be like?

    • Five Covenants of God

      5 videos

The God of the Bible is a covenant-making and a covenant-keeping God. But what is a covenant and how does it differ from a contract? How many covenants has God made with humans? How many of these apply to Christians today? These are crucial questions for the interpretation and application of Scripture. The Bible is divided into two testaments, another word for covenants. Does this mean the Old Testament is only of historical interest to disciples of Jesus ? What about the Ten Commandments? – and the other six hundred and three given to Moses? Some of the major differences in the Church go back to the different answers given to these questions. For example, whether baptism should be of babies or believers, whether priests, altars, vestments and incense should be used in worship, whether re-marriage is permissable after divorce and whether we should work a six day week. By His covenants of grace, the Lord has bound Himself to us and bound us to Himself. That is the heart of Biblical revelation and Godly living. Talks were recorded in 2009.

  • Letters of Jesus (The Letters of Jesus to His Churches)

    9 videos

Why were the only letters Jesus Himself ever sent addressed to a circuit of churches in the south-west corner of what is now called Turkey? And why did Satan choose to locate his permanent residence on earth in the very same district? The answer is that both time and place were critical for the survival of the body of Christ in the face of pagan religion and worldly culture. If the saints could ‘overcome’ here, they would be able to do so in all places and through all times. The seven letters therefore have a permanent message, as well as a particularly contemporary application. The world is still very much with us, seeking to ‘overcome’ the church by external persecution or internal corruption. But the risen, ascended, returning Lord still walks among His churches, encouraging with promised rewards and warning of eternal loss. These studies will leave the viewer with two questions which must be answered:

    • Which letter describes the church I belong to?
    • Am I an ‘overcomer’, in the church and the world?

  • Men for God

    4 videos

When God numbered Israel, He counted the men over twenty who were able to fight. When Jesus began to build his Church, He chose twelve men, most of whom worked with their hands. The New Testament letters are well addressed to ‘brothers’… Why is it easier to get women converted than men? What are the differences between men and women? Is a man’s daily work a necessary evil or is his full-time Christian service? How can we disciple men today? These and many other questions about the roles and responsibilities of men are answered by David, who for some years has been leading seminars for men in the UK and overseas under the banner ‘Men for God’.

  • Natural Disasters (Why Does God Allow Natural Disasters?)

    3 videos

When natural disasters such as tsunamis, floods and earthquakes occur, many people ask the question ‘If God is all-powerful and loving, why does he allow such things to happen?’ David Pawson looks carefully at what the Bible has to say about the significance of such events which can disrupt the lives of millions, bringing destruction, injury and death. As the number and intensity of such disasters increases, this teaching answers the need for a thoroughly biblical understanding of a major issue. “If God is all-powerful and all-loving, how can He allow things like earthquakes to happen?” This question was acutely raised by the devastating tsunami on Boxing Day, 2004. David Pawson was invited to give three one hour broadcasts on Revelation TV to deal with this very issue. David first dealt with three unsatisfactory answers – that all suffering is a mystery, that so much unselfish goodwill is generated and that God himself suffers with us. A sentimental view of the divine nature and human nature only compounds the problem. Only the Scriptural understanding of how God is and how bad we are can provide a solution that satisfies the reason and conscience. Such an event can then be seen as a global warning of worse to come and a token of a better beyond.

  • Uniqueness of Christ

    6 videos

Our society is based on a variety of philosophies – pluralism, rationalism, socialism and so on. How is the Christian life to be different? David Pawson discusses Jesus Christ’s claim to be the Way, the Truth and the Life. He examines His miraculous power and moral purity and describes the essential qualities of His uniqueness which extends beyond his earthly life.

  • Uniqueness of Christ in an Age of Pluralism

    2 videos

David explains that Pluralism is the current solution to the issue of people of different religions living together in the same community. All the religions could be wrong, but only one can be right, because there are radical contradictions between them. Christianity is unique because Christ is the only one of his kind. He came into this world and went out of it like no other. His life was different from everybody else in what he did, what he was and what he said. Unless the Gospel record is dismissed as fraudulent, Christ’s words leave just three options, that he was a lunatic, a liar or the Lord. So faith in Christ is exclusive, he is the only way to God, and inclusive – it is for everybody everywhere.

Talk given at Revelation TV in November 2009.
